KINGSTON, N.Y. ? The city?s 45th annual Children?s Day Parade will be held this evening.
The parade will comprise about 900 participants in 44 units, according to Kevin Gilfeather, city parks and recreation superintendent. The theme will be ?Celebrating Our National Parks.?
The parade starts at 6 p.m. at Broadway and Andrews Street. It then proceeds up Broadway and onto Albany Avenue, turns right on Clinton Avenue and right on Westbrook Lane, ending at Kingston Plaza.
Disc jockey Eddie Parker will play music at the plaza, and the Kingston Professional Firefighters Association will serve hot dogs and water.
Also, parade participants will be given free admission to the carnival being held at the plaza, Gilfeather said.
The day will be capped with fireworks at the plaza around 9:30 p.m.
